Newbrook Celtic 2 Dundrum Athletic 2

21 01 2009

Newbrook Celtic showed immense character on Sunday to come back from 2 goals to grab a  much deserved point against Dundrum Athletic.  The first goal came from a misjudgemeant from the normally solid Luke Rock when a corner went straight in to the net.  Newbrook had several chances to score and if they had scored one the flood gates would have opened unfortunatley it was not to be in the first half were several chances went astray much to the diapointmeant of Renick,  Hanlon & Tannem. Another point to note from the first half was the accurate long throwing of Mick O' Brien which was causing the Dundrum defence many problems.   The second half kicked off with Dundrum going 2 up with a ball through midfield was run on to by the Dundrum attacker and he neatly finished past Mark Doyle.  Newbrook made tactical changes with Johnie Lane,  Simon Monks,  & Bal Murphy coming in.  Murphy and Monks went up top with Lane going in to the left of a three man defense.  This proved to be a succsesful formation with Bal Murphy finishing of following a good cross from Barry Hanlon.  Chance after chance went begging for Newbrook and thankfully following a corner from Monks the hard working "Terrior" Paul Mulligan finihsed to make it 2-2.  Two points dropped for Newbrook but lots of character shown and the never say die attitude pleased the Newbrook Managemeant.
